THE JOURNEY

Today, finds me back in the UAE after almost three years. I am on a special journey - one which began when I decided to apply for the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival 2022.

I have been preparing for this journey since I heard that two of my works had been selected for the festival. The festival begins next week and I will be sharing often on social media while on this visit to the UAE. In the mean time I would like to share with you a piece that I have written about this year’s special edition of the festival and my participation in it.

MEETING RAD DREW

After following Rad Drew on social media and admiring his outstanding photography and editing skills, I was happy when on his trip to the United Arab Emirates he suggested we meet. We met at the futuristic Masdar City in Abu Dhabi which I loved to photograph as we lived nearby. Rad was visiting his friend Riyad in Abu Dhabi at the time and the two of them can be seen in this photo I took. Rad is wearing a Kuma, a rounded Omani cap traditionally worn by men.

Rad later invited me to write a guest blog post for his website and I willingly obliged. The article is entitled “Letting in th Light”.
